ZD106直流牽引電動機采用全懸掛焊接機座，通用ZD109電樞沖片，是為適應我國鐵路客運，進一步提速要求而研制的大功率直流牽引電動機。該電機設計制造吸收了國內外直流牽引電動機的最新技術，采用多項新結構、新工藝、新材料，具有恒功范圍廣、可靠性高等特點，可用于東風11機車。
